My Bird Books

I'm slightly addicted to collecting bird field guides, from different countries around the planet. I mostly find them in Charity shops or Second Hand Bookshops. I love flicking through them, and mentally listing birds I'd like to see!

	Where to Watch Birds in Devon & Cornwall	David Norman & Vic Tucker	9780713680515	Found in an Oxfam Charity bookshop. It's full of very helpful suggestions of where to go and watch birds. I consult this one quite frequently.
	The Collins Garden Birdwatchers Bible	Christopher Perrins et al	9780008405595	A super book - everything you could possibly need to know about birds in your garden. Loads of photos, stories, history etc.
	Time to Fly. Exploring Bird Migration.	Jim Flegg	9781904870081	I picked this one up, as I was interested in the Bar Tailed Godwits Migration from New Zealand to Alaska. There's some amazing stories in this book.
	The Lost Birds of Middlemarch, Britain and the World	Ian Moore	9798373729239	A Fathers Day present from my youngest son. Its a biography from a very keen bird watcher and recorder.
	Field Guide to the Birds of Southern Africa.	Ian Sinclair	9780002191319	Covers 900 species from Antarctica to the Zambesi River. Colour Photos, Distribution maps and the vital details of all the species.
	Key to the Wildfowl of the World	Peter Scott		It is what it says it is. Beautiful colour illustrations.
	The Atlas of Birds.	Mike Unwin	9781408134702	An Illustrated Atlas, that maps avian diversity, behaviour and habitats worldwide.
	Birds of Britain and Europe	1481	9780261674028	A bargain from Trago Mills! Small, fits in pocket, nice colour photos.
	Birdwatcher's Pocket Guide	Peter Hayman	978085533	A RSPB book - it's a great size, actually does fit in a pocket! Useful colour illustrations and helpful information.
	Birds of North America	Chandler S Robbins et al.	03350098670	Useful colour illustrations and lots of information to help identify birds in North America.
	Birds of Britain and Europe.	Editor - Paul Sterry	9780749564097	Good Colour Photos and informative text. I use this one quite a lot when at home.
	Birds of South East Asia	Ben King, Martin Woodcock & E.C. Dickinson.	97800022192064	Again, lovely colour plates, this is one book that makes me want to visit the area!
	Wildlife of New Zealand	Julian Fitter	9781472961006	A lovely section about New Zealand birds, but this book also covers, trees, flowers, Mammals, Whales and every other type of wildlife you can think of.
	Collins Bird Guide - 1986	Stuart Keith & John Gooders	0002191199	A classic - Pictures organised by size and colours, so easy to flick through and find the bird you're trying to identify. I have a newer edition - but I usually stick to the Collins Guide app on my phone!
	Collins Field Guide to the Birds of West Africa	W. Serle, G. J. Morel & W. Hartwig	9780002192040	Colour and B&W illustrations. Very concise text. Useful maps.
	A Field Guide to the Wildlife of the Falkland Islands and South Georgia	Ian J. Strange	9780002198394	Interesting book, Good illustrations and detailed text.
	Rare Birds of Britain and Europe.	Ian Lewington et al	9780002199179	Super book, clear colour illustrations and plenty of information about the rarity of the different birds. Fascinating read.
