Sometimes when out bird watching, you come across with a ring, or a selection of often coloured, plastic or metal rings on its legs. I enjoy finding who’s ringed the bird, sending in details of the rung bird I’ve spotted and usually you get sent details of when it was ringed and details of where else it’s been seen. Plus I feel that, in a very small way, I’m contributing to our knowledge of birds behaviour. I’m sharing information about ringed birds I’ve seen, below:
10th November 2024 – Par Beach – Mediterranean Gull

Spotted this gull at the Par Beach Duck pond – he was wearing a ring on each leg, however the plastic yellow ring was simple to read and an email to the bird ringer in Germany produced the following response:
